Britain - and humor?

Saatchi Gallery is the latest of new reuses of old buildings in London. As power (be it literal as in Tates bankside location, or polical as here in county hall) moves out, art moves in.
And this week the "shocking" (or modern art) gallery was host to the political elite - at least the would be elite in form of the proposed next leader of the conservative party.
"I suspect the Tories are so desperate to be united they would unite behind John Prescott" - Simon Hoggart
For those unfamilar with the UK behind hipster PM Tony Blair - Prescott is actualy the deputy prime minister... for Labour! Now there is a thought - all politicians are more or less interchangable, so why not put the "runner up" in charge of the opposition, and let him hammer anTony for all his slick remarks?

That would certainly fit with Hirst's work - Away from the Flock, or as the vital (no pun intended) stats go: steel, glass, lamb and formaldehyde solution, 96.5 x 149 x 51 cm

Snowy day

And then it happened - as I was preparing my doppi (double dose of espresso, great kickstart), the air was filled with white. Nope, not fog but real proper snow. Two months until x-mas and seems like only yesterday (actually it was a week ago) I was sitting outside in the warm autumn sun enjoying the last outdoor pint. Oh well, time to do some charitable work - click a couple of links and help make the world a less hostile place...
The Rainforest Site:! (might have a pop-up, not sure anymore due to the updated google bar...)
Snow dates - day of first snow the last ten years here in Oslo, defined as at least 1 cm on the ground in the morning. That means that the snow drifting down outside now probably won't count - unless it statys put until tomorrow morning... lets hope it does NOT.

Varies from the 16. of October back in -92 and -93 to as late as 27. of December in 2000 (a rainy christmas if I remember correctly)

Maintenance

I spent some time refitting my blog tonight, changed and adapted the template, reformated and backed-up the old stuff. So, now for some thoughts, which is after all what the blog is for.

Type is more than meets the eye, at least if your not used to working with it and discussing it. Some times it just feels right, even if you can't explain it. But then, often it just looks so-so, and you are not able to figure out what should be done. More leading? Kern it some? Change the size or just get another font - from the same family or another one?

On another thought I got a renewal letter from Wired some weeks ago. But I seem to remember ordering with my old Corporate AmEx. card... but on the site it says that the subsrciption has been renewed. Inter-resting. But where is issue 11.11 on Thorvalds? Can't wait to get another issue, and have some time to read it - and more importantly think about the stories.

For a more twisted and hard view on reality - take a peak into Kylies ramblings of a broken soul.
Puts things in perspective.

New additions

Just popped back after three months of newspaper wrk, too much time, too little life... checking that the "blog this!" google button works.
